4 Reasons Why Discord is The Best Place to Connect with Your Team

Discord started as a place for gamers to meet up but, now the audience is much more diverse. We at Frontier Media use it for our team’s communications.

While there are more applications available that provide more and different features but we are quite happy using them so far.

Here are five reasons why we think you should give it a try too.

Discord is Free!

Discord is basically free and, although there is discord nitro, that doesn’t bring the value of what you get for free down. For free, you can do a lot on Discord which is not necessarily true for other platforms.

Discord is a More Social Experience

Since its beginnings, Discord’s mission was to provide a fun communication tool for the community and that assumption still stands. A user on Quora described Discord as a “real-time Reddit” due to the ease with which you can switch communities. In Discord, switching between different servers is a seamless experience and participation in various communities. It can be considered a social network at this point.

Audio and Video Chats on Discord are Great!

Platforms like Slack which have a feature set available for free do not have the greatest audio-video quality which is why companies also pay for Zoom. On the other side, Discord built a reputation for audio chats. While gaming, users talk to each other and the less the delay the better it is and it nailed that front. So when you have your meetings whether they are audio chats or video chats, the quality would be great.

It is More Convenient.

This might be a bit of a bold statement depending on who this is directed to but we have our reasons. Discord is branded as a fun place and people already know how to make the most of it. While switching to a different application isn’t the most challenging thing but it would take time. Also, adjusting and being comfortable isn’t the same thing so take that for what it is. You should pick the more seamless experience over features you wouldn’t need.

Now after listening to all the great reasons why you should use Discord, we would suggest you not get swept away with what is popular and do your research.

A lot of reasons like company culture and type of work are valid points to consider before picking a platform for communication. Discord doesn’t have the most integration available and the texting part isn’t as robust as what something like Slack provides.

Applications like Slack provide a more robust texting system, a wider array of integrations but not for free. Another factor would be, Slack is regarded as something more corporate and rigid so we think you should know that too.

The biggest reason we use Discord is that it is the most convenient and efficient platform for our team. That’s it and that’s all that matters.
